We’re visiting my brother and SIL. Yesterday for breakfast SIL had strawberries and a coffee cake. The coffee cake was sprinkled with chocolate chips. When we were eating the boys all decided it was dessert for breakfast (which was a wildly popular concept, needless to say).
So, this morning SIL has made eggs and toast and calls the boys up to breakfast. DS2 comes up from downstairs and is overheard saying “yay! I think it’s gonna be dessert again.”
And in case anyone else wants dessert for breakfast, I highly recommend this.
CHOCOLATE CHIP BANANA COFFEE CAKE
*** makes 2 – 9×13 pans – freezes well – cut into pieces and freeze – take out only as many pieces as you need
1 cup butter or margarine
2 cups white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup sour cream or apple sauce
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
3 tsp baking powder
1 cup brown sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
Mix all ingredients together and pour into 2 – 9×13 greased pans. Sprinkle with topping and cut into the dough. Pour 1 cup chocolate chips on top and bake in a 350 oven for 20-25 minutes. I like this when it’s served warm!
